Hourly Associates who maintain 18 or more work hours per week for 30 consecutive days are eligible for a plan administered by Essential StaffCARE and underwritten by Blue Cross Blue Shield. It is a group plan that is pre-tax approved. The Greer Group pays a percentage of the insurance cost based upon an Associate's tenure with us.

This plan is a Health Indemnity plan. The benefits are structured for every day types of use and they provide some coverage for medical expenses such as hospitalization. The plan features include:

Associates may elect dependent coverate at their own cost. In addition, Life, Dental and Short Term Disability options are available for purchase at the Associate's cost. Additional Benefits
We also offer several benefits through our affiliation with AFLAC that Associates can opt to add onto their benefits plan at a group rate. Some of these benefits specify Section 125 salary deductions. Associates are eligible to select from these benefits after 30 days of employment with The Greer Group. They must maintain an average of 32 hours per week or more in order to continue their coverage. These benefits are portable if Associates choose to leave our employment.

Short Term Disability
Benefits include: payment for loss of work due to an accident or sickness. Associates are able to select the day on which coverage begins.

Dental Insurance
Benefits include: payments toward 2 cleanings per year per covered Associate and payments toward dental treatment after waiting periods have been met.

Accident Insurance
Benefits include: 24-hour accident coverage, payment directly to the insured, hospital confinement benefit, accidental death and dismemberment, wellness benefit.

Cancer Insurance
Benefits include: Home health care, nursing services, experimental treatment, hospital confinement, cancer wellness screening.

Intensive Care Insurance
Benefits include: Daily hospital intensive care unit benefit, organ transplant benefit, and sub-acute intensive care unit benefit.

Life Insurance
Coverage up to $100,000 and the option to cover spouse and/or children.

Associate Vacation
The Greer Group recognizes the importance of vacation time in providing the opportunity for rest, recreation and personal activities and grants annual paid vacation to its regular Associates. The amount of vacation time to which Associates are entitled depends on their status as an Associate and on their length of service starting from their original hire date.

Associates are eligible for one week of vacation pay at their average rate of pay when they have worked the required hours in the preceding 12 months. A minimum of 2080 hours in the preceding 12 months, beginning from the original hire date to the first anniversary is required for full-time regular Associates. The anniversary date will be used to evaluate vacation eligibility for each additional year.

Associates will not be eligible to accrue vacation time while on military or family leave or during any personal leave which lasts more that thirty (30) days.

401 K
The Greer Group offers a 401K  Plan with American Funds for eligible participants. This is based on the requirement that they worked for 12 months and have a minimum of 1000 hours. The entry dates are January 1st and July 1st each year after completion of service requirements.

Participants determine how their money will be invested and what percentage of their salary they want to set aside (Minimum 1% and maximum of 75% but not to exceed $15,500 in 2008).  Contributions are automatically deducted from their paychecks each week and invested in up to 10 funds of their choosing. 

The Greer Company will make a safe harbor match contribution not to exceed 4% of the participant’s salary in a year as scheduled below.  Contributions will be made monthly to contributors accounts.
